Date night

Yesterday Roy had a work commitment in the evening and wasn't able to be home for dinner, bath, and bed with the kids as usual.  It turned out that Leighton's friend Laila's daddy/my friend Kyla's husband was out of town and she was looking to keep her kids busy, too.  Perfect!  We picked up the kids from school and headed to their place to bounce on the trampoline and play outside.

We went inside for some fun dress up and then the kids all started saying they were hungry (Riley was the first to bring it up, of course!).  Neither Kyla nor I had really made a decent dinner plan, so we decided to take the kids out for dinner.  We asked for their input and cheeseburgers and fries was a popular vote.  A new Fuddruckers opened not too far from their house and on the way home to ours, so it was a perfect place to go.

The kids all had fun.  Gavin squealed and gobbled up sweet potato fries.  Riley bounced around and managed to somehow eat her burger between people watching, laying down on the bench to take off her shoes (I just let her ... I was enjoying being out, the restaurant was super loud, and nobody cared!), and running over to her brother's side of the table.  Leighton and Laila were pretty much in their own little world.  It was like they were on a little date.  So cute!

When we left there were a bunch of teenagers in the parking lot, and Kyla and I had a glimpse into the future of what date night will sooner-than-we-realize become!
