Winter soccer season

This year, Leighton decided he wanted to play soccer in the winter instead of basketball.  Riley was excited to play, too.  I found an outdoor league that plays at Rice in the winter, and we decided to give it a try.  It works nicely that we only go once a week on Saturday, and both kids have their practice and game back to back.

The first week was rained out after flooding rains had made everything soggy.  The next two weeks were freezing.  SO cold.  And the past two weeks have been hot and sunny and I've gotten a sunburn!  Winter weather in Houston is so weird!

Each week, there is a character building theme that the teams focus on.  The player who exemplifies it best during the game wins a medal.  Riley was on a mission to win the medal last week, and she even bravely went and asked her new coach what the theme was.  It was 'hustle' and she played so amazing to try to do all the things the coach described as 'hustle'.  She scored 3 goals even!  It was her best game ever!  And she won the medal :)
