December 2019 - the last month of the decade!

I didn't even clue into the fact that we were on the cusp of a new decade until Leighton mentioned it over the holiday break, but here we were in the last month of 2019 before our calendars turned to the '20s!

It was another fun-filled and busy month, as it seems every month is around here!

The kids started their advent calendars ...

I was busy with cookie orders ...

Leighton's soccer team was in the finals, which meant a full weekend of a soccer tournament.  They did amazing on Saturday so they qualified for Sunday, but unfortunately lost in the semi-finals.

Riley brought home her elephant project she made at school.

And she decorated a little Xmas tree.

I took the plunge and purchased my first ever artificial tree.  It was s big decision, and of course was filled with MANY weeks of research to find the one I would like.  I held my breath as we opened the box (and filled it with Riley!) and set it up.  In the end, I was VERY happy with it!

I hosted a Mommy brunch at the house.  We went to a bowling birthday party for a friend in Riley's class.  And hung out at the Mathiesens to celebrate with the Curtis and McNulty families.

I made cookies for Riley's class holiday party.

The kids made some easy ornaments and decorated chocolate xmas trees.

And I had more cookie orders.

The kids helped with some baking and went to IKEA for a 'craft'.

This is what it looked like one evening when I opened the front door!  This was just a fraction of the number of boxes and packages that arrived that week!

We went to Nina's bday party and enjoyed some time in the warm sunshine.

We drove to see xmas lights.

We got to see the Meyer family!  They were in town and we had lunch and played at the park and then met up for dinner later, too.

Roy and the kids had their traditional time at the park and ice cream on xmas even.  And then we had Olive and her mom and grandma over for lunch and gingerbread house decorating.

Then it was time for cookies and eggnog for Santa!  And matching PJs for the kids.

Happy Xmas Morning!

After xmas, I took Riley skating with Olive at the Galleria one day.  It was one of her gifts from Grandma and Papa!

Leighton made butter again.  The kids also helped Roy make a dish he had seen online and wanted to make.

On the last day of the year, Riley and I went out for a nice walk.  Then the Meyer family came over for a quick visit to see our new place.  It was sad to say goodbye to them since they were returning to SLC the next day.  For New Year's Eve, Grandma and Papa treated us to tickets to the Rockets game.  It was a nice way to have an activity without having to be out late!!  Leighton rang in the new year on FaceTime with his friends, Riley had put herself to bed after watching the ball drop in Times Square an hour ahead of 'our' New Year's, and Roy and I watched something on TV and then realized it was 2020!
