They really, really love each other

My kids love each other.  A lot.

I remember hearing other parents talk about how their kids were the best of friends and how amazing it is to see them really start to engage with each other, but I didn't really 'get it' until seeing how Leighton and Riley are with each other.

Since we've moved to Houston, the kids have been spending so much time together and Riley has gotten to the age where she can play and interact and communicate so well that they really have become best friends.

The way Riley follows, copies, and looks up to her big brother is so indescribably cute.

And the way Leighton defends and protects and encourages Riley is so sweet.

They most certainly have their moments (many, many, many a day, in fact!) when they are not getting along, but for the most part, they really love being with each other and doing things together.

I can't imagine how the days are going to go when Leighton starts school in the fall and Riley won't have him with her 24/7.  She is going to miss him like crazy.  He will certainly be smothered with her attention when he comes home at the end of the day!

Here are a few photos of the two of them over the last couple days.

  1. Leighton and Riley are so sweet together. I agree that Riley will miss her brother a ton when school starts.

Can you send me the one of the kids smiling together at the camera? I love it and want to print it.

  2. Sadly, Riley isn't in focus in the picture or it might be one of the best of the two of them I've ever managed to get. Boo. I will send it anyway though.
