Super Bowl Sunday

We don't watch football, but we usually take part in Super Bowl Sunday by eating really yummy and unhealthy food!  This year I wanted to make some cookies I had seen online, so I asked Pauline if they'd eat them since I knew they'd be watching the game.  She graciously accepted (I think her reply was something like, "Um??? YES!") and then a Super Bowl party at their place came to be.

We went over early enough for the kids to play and then eat dinner before the game started.

Then the kids headed upstairs to watch a movie while the parents stayed down to continue feasting (and I think a couple may have been paying attention to the game, too!).  Although there was a lot of up and down the stars for may of the kids … especially Riley and Caroline - the two of them came up with a very cute game of coming for one bite of cookie and then running back upstairs only to return for another bite about 3 minutes later!

I had promised to bring the cookies (and left some plain for my dear husband who prefers them sans Royal icing) and then said I'd bring something more 'food-like'.  I spent a while on Pinterest trying to decide what to make and take and then asked for Roy's input.  I ended up taking:

Cookies

Cheese Pizza Rolls on a Stick

Pepperoni Pull Apart Bread
I used my own pizza dough recipe.  I loved the way this came together, but I thought it didn't taste amazing.  Same ingredients I always use, but something about the way it baked didn't quite make me excited.  Roy thought it was good though and thought it was perfect for this kind of appetizer/snacking event.  I will make it again.

Roasted Corn Dip
grilled corn, cotija cheese, red onion, cilantro, salt, chili powder, garlic, lime juice, red pepper, Greek yogurt, sour cream, a little mayo, and then garnished with scallions

Black Bean Dip
Black beans, cherry tomatoes, lime juice, red onion, jalapeño, cilantro, and salt

Buffalo Chicken Dip
No picture again!!!

  2. Oh now I get it...deli tray cookies! Amazing. And I love the sprinkles representing the people watching the game (or at least that's my interpretation) on the yard line cookies. You are amazing.
