Canada Day!
4th of July!
A few movies with friends.
Their first cooking class at HEB - they made sliders and spiced nuts. They absolutely loved it, although Leighton had a small mishap when he breathed out too hard when smelling his container of spices for the nuts and ended up with cayenne and cinnamon in his eyes!!! After 10 minutes in the bathroom flushing them out, he was able to get back in time to help mix them up!
We went to a bike safety talk at the library and they got free helmets!
Two days in a row we had birthday parties at the Maplewood pool. They spent most of their time on the diving boards, but were in the splash area from time to time as well.
I picked both kids up from camp one day and took them for one of their library program prizes before Leighton's hair cut.
At the conclusion of Riley's ballet camp, they held a performance of The Wizard of Oz.
We had a a few errands to run and Roy had some work that needed to get done, so I took the kids out for a day of adventure and errands! When we were on our way, I spotted the light on for hot, fresh donuts at Krispy Kreme. The kids had never heard of it so I turned around and took them in. They were pretty excited to watch the donuts being made and couldn't believe they got a free one when the light was on! We took a few home to share with Daddy too.
Then we made our stop at Academy ...
And spent a long time exploring Five Below next door ...
Then to Barnes and Noble for their free book for the Summer Reading program and finding other books to put on their 'wish lists' ...
Our last stop was at Phoenicia. They were having fun watching the bread come off the conveyor belt and were offered one to taste!
We got some new pool floats!
While Leighton was in his 2nd week of camp, Riley was home with me. One day she had a cooking class at HEB.
After getting Leighton from camp, they kids participated in a Mad About Hoops activity at the library.
And the next day Riley got a hair cut.
While I was packing our suitcases and getting organized for our trip, Riley was super proud of herself because she recycled a box and did a project to create a car for herself.
Complete with a remote control.
And buttons inside!
After Leighton's last day of camp, we had some time before we needed to pick Roy up at work, so we went to Central Market for their ice cream festival. Each department had different ice cream taste testers.
chocolate covered bacon with caramel ice cream in the meat department
stout milkshake in the beer department
coffee smoothies in the coffee department

Ice cream festival??? I think I need to be there for the next one.
