A cold April weekend

On Friday, it was in the 80s.

When we left for the kids' soccer on Saturday morning, it was in the low 70s.

And then it was all downhill from there!  It was drizzly and windy and the temperature kept dropping during our 3.5 hours at the soccer fields.  It felt SO cold!  And we had even watched the weather forecast ahead of time (of course we had ... we all know I'm still obsessed with the weather!), but I took the 15% chance of rain to mean that it wouldn't.  I was wrong!  So we weren't equipped with the right clothing!  Luckily, when Ken came for Landon and Leighton's game, he brought a huge stack of jackets for all of us!!  I was too cold to remember to take pictures of the kids, but someone else from Riley's team did, at least!  Next week I will ..... when I'm sure it will be in the 90s and we will all be complaining of the heat!!!

After soccer, we were off to Avani's annual pool party birthday party!  Usually we are all hiding from the sun, but not this year!  The kids still all swam (the pool was heated) while the adults mostly stayed inside in the warmth and watched through the windows!  After swimming, they all put on jackets and bundled up for their snocones!

Today the US Women's National Team was playing Mexico, and although it was supposed to warm up from the 40s to the 60s by game time, the clouds never parted and I think the highest temp was 53.  It wasn't too bad though because we dressed for it!!

So, even though it should be warm and we should be wearing flip flops and loads of sunscreen, we are having a chilly April weekend!  That's ok though - even though the weather this year has been completely nuts ....

... and all the weird weather it throws at us!!

  1. Here it has snowed every day in April except for 3...crazy, weird, weather. And opening day in Chicago (today) was snowed out. Do they not know the value of a stadium with a roof?
