First week of summer

We started off the summer with a visit to Katie and Adam and Lorelei and George out in Spring.  We are sad that they will be moving back home to Michigan this summer.

We met Lillian and her mom to watch the new Aladdin movie (we all really liked it!).

We met Leighton's Fab Four group for ice cream.  We went to a fancy ice cream place that serves the ice cream with cotton candy around it and toasted marshmallows and other fun toppings!  This was the last time all 4 friends will be together before Lillian moves and the other three separate to other middle schools.  They exchanged gifts and had a fun time!

I took the kids to the library ...

Percy and Dorothy were visiting and we took a trip to Corpus Christi.  We had never been, so we wanted to check it out.

We stopped along the way for lunch in Victoria at a great burger place and then at a brewery and winery for tastings.  The brewery was pretty empty because it was SO hot out.  It would be a really fun place when the weather is cooler and they had live music going.  The winery is the only one in the area - the man working the tasting room was really personable and the room itself was really unique.

We entered Corpus Christi along the water but then stayed at Embassy Suites further in.  We always enjoy the drinks and snacks in the evenings.  Roy took Riley for a swim at the pool, so she was a happy girl!  We also went to Grimaldi's for dinner.  It was our least favorite Grimaldi's we've been to, unfortunately.

In the morning we visited a touristy store and then hit the beach.

After the beach we ended up driving home and just snacking on leftover pizza and other snacks we had brought/bought for lunch.  We had thought of going back into the area of Corpus right by the bay, but plans changed.  Next time we will go check that area out more - there are a couple great murals I'd like to take pictures at and the Selena memorial statue to see.  Michelle Curtis had also recommended a place to eat that looks good for lunch.  So - we'll go back!  It's close enough to visit again for sure!
