October has come and gone

As always, the days fly by and soon another month is over!  Here is a little of what we were up to in October ....


Riley played with Vivienne after school catching lizards.

I took the kids to the Dr for the their flu shots.  They got their height measured ... please note that Leighton is 5'6.25' on October 4th.  You will need to remember that later!

I kept researching furniture placement possibilities.  And Leighton kept reminding me how uncomfortable it was to watch TV while on the floor.

Riley had a soccer game and scored her second goal this season!!!  And I caught it on camera!

Leighton had a game, too.  He started the first half as goalie and played striker the second half.

I love all the dads standing with their arms crossed!

Leighton tried to tell the referee!

Riley had a final outdoor swimming playdate on one of the last hot, hot, hot days before all the pools cooled off.

She also got to meet Olive's new puppy, Daisy.

The kids helped build a lot of furniture!  Yay for couches and chairs!

The kids had a day off mid-week, so we walked to get ice cream!

And then we went to run around at the park to burn off the calories!

Riley had soccer again!

And so did Leighton!

Pauline and Mikkel were coming over for dinner.  Leighton was at a sleepover, but Riley joined in on the fun!

I got rear ended :(

One of Roy's family friends from Vancouver was in town for work.  We haven't seen Marvin in 20 years!  Crazy!

And Leighton finally got bedroom furniture!  Roy and Leighton put his desk and chair together.  Roy and I did the bed.  And Roy knocked the bookshelves out all on his own one night!

And Riley, too!  Thanks to Papa for helping Roy put her bed together.  And ours, too!

Riley built her recycled robot for school.

On early dismissal Friday, I bribed the kids to go for a walk with a promise of Smoothie King!

And then Riley put Grandma to work with art projects.

Riley and Leighton both had soccer games.

Roy went away to Chicago for work and the rest of us were at home!

We watched a lot of baseball playoffs.  Riley fell asleep before the game ended this night!

We took our usual trip to Half Price Books while Grandma and Papa visited!

And we got some puzzles to put together.

We went out for dinner and Riley read an entire book while we sat and chatted with Grandma's friend.

And the kids had A LOT of ice cream!

Leighton turned 12!!!

He was surprised to see that he got very expensive AirPods.  Spoiled kid!

We also got him some cashews, lol!

Riley had fun taking Papa to buy beer after school.

And Leighton liked his apple pie I baked him.  Thanks to Grandma for doing all the apple peeling and slicing!

It got really cold for a couple days!  We went outside to play though!

And Leighton is taller than Grandma and Papa now!

Riley had her school carnival.

Remember when Leighton was 5'6.25" on October 4th?  Well, on October 29th (that's 25 days, if you're counting!  Just over 3 weeks.), he was HALF AN INCH TALLER!  He was also a very sick boy for a good 9 or 10 days.  He's finally starting to feel a bit better.

He wasn't too sick to eat his free Steal a Base, Steal a Taco that the kids are addicted to every World Series!

But he was sick enough we had TWO visits to the Dr in one week.

Riley went trick-or-treating with her friend, Olive.  She wore a costume I made her 5 or 6 years ago!!!

She had LOADS of candy this year.  She shared a bunch with her brother since he was too sick to go out.  She was very very very sweet.
