June 2020

The official last day of school for the 2019-20 school year.  It should have been the Friday before, but in March there was a watermain break that cause a day off school, so they year was extended to June 1st.  Little did we know we'd be having A LOT more days off school too!  Leighton had to clean out his locker, so he had to line up at the front door and walk to his locker and gym locker to get his belongings and out the back door where I met him.  He actually let me take a picture!  It was a wacky looking last day of school!

This was the only picture Riley let me take of her last Zoom call on her last morning of school.

Blowing dandelions and making wishes.

Riley and I love our evening walks to the Menil.  There is often live music and it's easy to stay spread far apart form other people.

Riley and her Barbie's set up a furniture store for us to shop in!

Riley loves playing with the hose in the driveway like it's a sprinkler.

We all went to the park one morning.

Riley was throwing some amazing spirals!

We decided it was time to find a relatively safe outing since things seemed to be getting better in Houston.  we went blueberry picking.  It was easy to stay apart form other people and to wash our hands.  We hadn't done anything in so long.  It was fun to get out!

On the way home we stopped at the outlet mall when the doors first opened and were the first people in the stores so we felt safe.

Riley loves her selfies!

We had a 6ft apart play date with Olive at the Menil.

I took Leighton to play soccer and baseball at the park.  My 'little' baby skinned his knee.

Apparently Riley was taking selfies of her relaxing while I worked!  It's always finny to come across her photos on my phone!

She helped with some planting.

And we did some reading outside.  It was so hot that we didn't last too long!

We took Riley to the garden center at Lowe's to buy some plants.  Another relatively safe outing!

She painted a flower pot for her new plant.

For my birthday, the kids helped Roy make omelettes for breakfast.

And we Zoomed with my fam.

And we set up a dart board outside.

And some lights on our little outdoor space.

More braiding of Leighton's hair!

Riley played school with Roy and this was how she dressed as the old lady teacher.

We had another 6 ft apart play date with Olive.

And then it started pouring rain!

Riley and I walked one morning and found a new peanut butter tasting window in our neighborhood!

On Father's Day, Riley and I walked to get bagel breakfast.

And then we drove to pick up butcher shop to go from fogo de chao.  Riley sat in the back watching traffic while we sat and waited for our order to be ready!

Barbie school!  Apparently clothing is optional at this school!

Here's the teacher with her headset and smart board!!!

Zoom call for Kirsten's bday!

One handed cartwheels.

Sticky hand painting.

Riley's favorite - puddle walking!

Riley read this series of books and each one has two recipes, so she made the macadamia nut banana bread from this one.

Riley lined up all her pennies chronologically!

Leighton's hair is getting even longer for braiding!

Riley and Olive like FaceTime play dating for several hours at a time.  Looking at the photos on my phone afterwards is always amusing!!!  This is what they get up to apparently!!

  1. I'm laughing, but also sad that we can't be there to join in the fun. Your outdoor space looks great. I'm glad you have some plants happening.
