100%

That is what Leighton got on his first ever test today!

He is doing a reading program at the school that has him take little comprehension tests on the computer after he reads a book at his reading level.  He got 100% on his first one.  Yay Leighton!  I knew he knew the book well, but because he has to read the questions on his own, I wasn't sure how he'd do.

We are VERY proud of our little reader and are BEYOND pleased with his teacher and the librarian at his school.  They tested his reading level the 3rd day of school (and thankfully he tested at the grade level I thought he was so I didn't look like a crazy parent telling the school my child was far more advanced than he is!!) and got him set up on this reading program.  They even needed to set up the program on a computer in his classroom because they've never had a Pre-K student reading before!  The librarian showed us around the library last week after school and explained that he would be checking books out from a different section from the rest of his class.

He is in love with reading, and we are so proud of him!

  1. That is an impressive start to what is sure to be a long educational road! We are so very proud of him too. Nakusp Elementary was running that same reading program when I worked there years ago. Do they tag the books in the library so he knows which ones are set up for the quizzes?

  2. The librarian has all the books color coded for levels and it will be really easy for him to follow to find books at his level. I think she said all the books in there have quizzes.
