Riley was home sick with me and was oscillating between hot and cold, so we'd have the fan on and then off and on and then off. She'd have her blanket on her and then off and then on again. The whole time she didn't want a shirt on. At one point, she asked me, "Why is only one of my nipples pointy?"

We were stuck in a bit of traffic, and I commented on it. Riley pipes up with, "Yeah. Come on world!" And then I said, we left at a good time and we would have been golden (meaning to be on time to Leighton's soccer practice), and Leighton said, "Yeah well now we are silverish instead." And of course he proceeded to explain his joke that he meant that being on time is golden and since we were a little late, we were just silver-ish.
September 9
This morning in the bathroom, Leighton asked Roy, "When our house floods again, can we come live here at the apartment again?"
September 10
Today Riley and I were in the car and were thinking of words that started with 'm'. I gave her this clue: It's something spend when we are in stores. Mmmmmmmmm ...." and she said, "A card?" Oh right - I never use cash money and all she knows is a credit card!!
September 14
I was telling the kids we had an hour to kill, and Leighton said, "How about we say an hour to spend instead."
September 14
Leighton said, "Mommy, I know the providence that Toronto is in. Ontario!" I guess we need a little more work on our Canadian terminology!
September 17
Riley said do you know what fast-a-bee means? It means to clean up in here.
September 20
Today Riley and I were cleaning the bathroom, and she said, "It's a good thing that you didn't die immediately when you were born. It's good because you grew up and had children and now I am helping you clean. That's good, right?"
September 22
Riley was talking about how Zain was showing her pictures of people getting married and she said she was 'incessed'. She mean 'obsessed'!

Riley calls where we are staying the 'rapartment' instead of the apartment. It's pretty cute!
Sept 27
I was telling the kids I got them a surprise at the grocery store, and they wanted clues to guess what it was. Roy piped in with a silly clue: It has 3 horns and 6 legs. We all laughed until Leighton says, "I know! A three man band! Because 3 horns and 6 legs." What a clever kid!!! And just an FYI, I didn't actually buy them a three man band at the grocery store ;)
Sept 29
We were in the store and Riley said, "Oh - are THOSE Mommies?" I looked and she was talking about mummies!
Sept 29
At dinner, Riley and Leighton decided we should have a quiet contest. You can guess how well they do! Leighton is forever calling 'time outs' to tell us something. So much for a quiet contest! And the way he though you called a time out was pretty funny - he was basically chopping his hand like an axe. I had to show him that it is like making a T for Time out. Little lightbulbs flashed in his cute little eyes. And then he giggled. As I said, so much for the quiet contest!
