Last week, the work on the house began. I have been working with the contractors over the last couple of months to get our ideas and plans sorted out, but I was getting really anxious for the work to start. They did a lot in the first few days (getting the electrical permit, doing loads of electrical work, the electrical inspection, a lot more demo, insulation, laying out the drywall, and getting the plumbing permit). We are now stalled a bit again while the city comes to do their newest (ridiculous) inspection of the lumber …. but then the cabinet maker will start all the custom cabinets, the plumbing work will be done, they will be alb to secure all the insulation and will get the sheetrock up. I've been trying to stay ahead of the game by choosing and ordering/buying what they will need for the next steps, so we've picked out all the new faucets for the 2 bathrooms getting redone and have purchased some tile for the kitchen backslash. I also got a bunch of lighting fixtures a while ago. Next up are countertops for the bathrooms and bedrooms. And most importantly, the wine cooler! The cabinet maker needs to know the dimensions so he can build the area around it.
I will work on getting some pictures together once there is something to actually show!
It will be fun to watch the house regain its former glory, but even more fun to be back in it!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited to hear this! Now you will be able to make it exactly what you want too!
