The funny things they say: January 2016 edition

We were talking about the order of the places Roy and I had moved ....
Riley: Do you know why Mommy moved to that place where I was born?  New York?
Leighton: Why?
Riley: To pick us up.  That's where we were born so she had to go there.
Leighton: You know that you were in Mommy's belly and born from there, right?
Riley: Oh, yeah.  Was there anything to drink in there or just blood?  Ew.

Leighton: Hey, that homesless guy has nice hair!
Me: What about it makes it nice?
Leighton: It looks like he has a good brush and water.
(I have to agree with him - the man had super shiny and healthy looking blonde hair!)

On the way home from school today, Leighton was saying what an amazing day it had been and that there were 4 great things that had happened.  I knew of three, so asked him what the 4 were.  He told me:
1. finding out he made the 2nd grade Name That Book competition team.
2. taking part in the Spelling Bee.
3. Getting a Positive Behavior Referral and special phone call home.
and
4. Getting those things in the urinals.
Yep - the kid was thrilled that they got the disks/pucks/pads in the urinals in the bathroom!

Riley and Leighton were playing school at home, and Leighton was teaching her about the water cycle and her tongue.  When she came out to tell me what she learned, she kept talking about her 'taste bugs' and not taste buds!  Leighton and I smiled at each other because it was so cute.

Roy was spinning a basketball on his finger and then Riley told Clyde to try.  He teased her and said he couldn't do it.  She said, 'That's because you are from Canada."
