Halloween 2018

I am not sure how another Halloween has already come and gone.  It feels like Halloween sneaks up on me every fall - it's a combination of having both kids' birthdays in the busy time between school starting and Halloween, and also the fact that we live where it doesn't get cold and fall-like to make me realize I should be bundling up for trick-or-treating like I always remember it!

This year Riley had a costume planned that I was going to make for her, but she decided a few weeks before Halloween that she loved her costume from last year so much and wanted to wear it again!  What a fantastic child she is!!  I loved that I didn't have to stress over sewing a new one - and I love that she loved what I made her last year so much that she wanted to wear it for a second time!

Leighton wanted to be an athlete again - at first he was wanting to be a Yankees baseball player, but in the end we went with a soccer player again.  It's easier (and far cheaper!) to get the uniform and soccer shorts are better suited to our muggy Halloween temperatures than baseball pants, anyway!

The kids got to wear their costumes to school, and in the evening we went to Andy & Joanna's in the Heights as we have the past few years.  We weren't sure we'd even get to do any trick-or-treating this year because it poured rain all day long and was forecasted to continue all night, as well.  Not only that, but there were heavy thunderstorm warnings, hail warnings, and a tornado watch!  And lots of street flooding.  But the weather completely cooperated and was dry for the few hours we needed it to be!  We were so lucky! The kids did a few blocks of trick-or-treating, but kept wanting to head back to hand out candy instead.  That's their favorite part, by far!  They're old pros at it now!

It was another really relaxed and enjoyable evening!  I look forward to next year!!
