Social Distancing Week 1 Complete!

Here we are at the end of the first week of no school and social distancing ourselves from the rest of the world.  I thought the time might drag by, but it actually went very quickly.  I tried not to think of what we should be doing on our vacation every day instead of being here!  While we mostly were indoors at home just the 4 of us, we did get out for some much needed fresh air from time to time.  I've been walking every day (except today - I'm tired, it's gloomy outside, and I figured I deserved a day to sit and do nothing!), and Roy and Riley have joined me a couple times.  Leighton isn't big on walking unless there's a prize at the end, like a park or ice cream or exploring a new city on vacation! Roy and I also did one grocery shop and a quick stop to pick up some scotch another day.  We're trying to keep in touch with friends and family, and the kids are face timing and texting with their friends, too.  We signed up for Netflix and the Disney Plus bundle with Hulu and ESPN+ (no live sports for us on ESPN+ for the foreseeable future, however!) so we can do some movie nights and have some other viewing options to keep us occupied every day.

Here's a little glimpse of what we've done this week ....

On Monday, Riley and I went on a walk and she took some photos of flowers and murals.

On Tuesday, we went to the park and kept to ourselves while we played catch, passed the soccer ball, and shot some hoops.  There weren't many others there at all and we took some soap and water with us to wash our hands.  And no snacks to limit the chance of hands to mouths!  For those who know me well, it's rare for me to go anywhere without snacks, especially for me and Riley!  It was a successful outing with fresh air, exercise, and little to no exposure to others.

On Wednesday, Riley did some scootering and weeding outside our front door.

On Thursday, Roy and the kids made paper airplanes.  They went outside to fly them but I missed that part while I was making dinner.

Friday was the beginning of some yucky weather.  Rain, clouds, and cooler temperatures.  Riley was beyond excited to give her new rain boots a try!  She and I went for a walk in the afternoon, and later, Riley played out front on her own when the rain was coming down a bit harder.

On Saturday, Riley went outside on her own to play in the puddles out front again.  I had done my walking earlier before it rained!
