Hamburglar

I have always dressed Leighton (and now Riley, too) mostly in clothes without characters and logos and pictures all over them.  I like solids and stripes and prints.  Not dinosaurs and trucks.  Or Elmo and Spiderman.  They are fun to play with, sure, but it's just not my preference for clothing.  I've been told it can be categorized as dressing kids like mini adults.  Yup!  Guilty.  I do make exceptions for pajamas though!  Okay, okay, I know.  I'm weird.  I won't be offended if you are thinking that right now!  I probably put far too much thought into clothes for the kids when I am shopping!

For some reason though, I ignored my own unwritten (well, unwritten until now, anyway!!) rule and got him a t-shirt with a hamburger on it a few summers ago.  He loved that shirt.  Ever since, I've always been on the lookout for a new hamburger shirt for him to have ready in the next size.  He has become much more involved and interested in his clothing purchases and daily selections over the last 6 months (and you can see more and more *things* on his shirts as a result!) and often chooses his burger shirts.  He is also now in on the hunt for hamburger shirts with me.  He spotted one while we were shopping at Target today, and luckily he was looking because I would have totally missed it tucked into the shelves.  I was super excited - even excited enough to even pay full price which I NEVER do (but, it was Target, so I felt ok splurging and shelling out $9 of my Roy's hard earned dollars for it!) because I hadn't found one yet for his next size and he is quickly growing out of one of the two he has now.

Here is my little hamburglar ...

And our newly acquired shirt now sitting in his 'next size' drawer.

And just for fun, here he was in his burger costume (and Riley in her hot dog) that he chose a couple years ago for Halloween.

If you ever spot a good hamburger shirt out there, be sure to let me know!

  2. I don't get to shop very often for kids clothes (or adult clothes either for that matter), but I'll keep an eye out.

I like the 'sup dawg shirt. Good spotting, Leighton!

  3. Oh, and I forgot to mention that I think I feel the same way as you about characters and things on clothing. Did I put you in clothes like that when you were little? Probably only if they were given to you as gifts or hand-me-downs from other families.

    1. I don't remember seeing much of that in old pictures. Just plaid. And brown. :)
