Our first Quinceañera

We were invited to our first Quinceañera last weekend and were excited to attend.  It was for Ximena, the daughter of the lovely woman who cleans our house every other Saturday (sometimes with Ximena's help).  I used Google to help me translate the invitation and set out to find something new to wear (any excuse to shop!) for me and the kids.  I even found a belt for Leighton.  He has been asking for one to be like Daddy, so he was pretty excited.  And I got him shoes that he says are like Daddy's, too.  Riley helped (and by helped I mean that she climbed on the benches in the changing rooms, ran under the racks of clothes, tried on every single necklace in the store, dragged boxes of shoes from one end of the aisle to another, and refused to try on the different sizes of dresses so I could see what fit her the best) me pick out a dress and shoes for both of us.  We tried to get some good photos of the kids together.  You can guess how easy that was with our two clowns!  They are funny pictures, at least!

There ceremony was all in Spanish, so we weren't sure what was being said.  Leighton kept asking, of course.  Roy just made stuff up.  Leighton was satisfied!

After we ate dinner and watched the first few dances, we decided we better get our kids home to bed.  We missed out on the full Quinceañera dance party experience, but considering we had to get up early the next morning to drive to New Orleans, I think we made the right decision!

On some tables, including ours, there was a doll as the centerpiece.  Riley enjoyed playing with it very much and got to take it home.  She is very attached to her Ximena doll now!
