Missing friends and family

This past week, we've had several friends move away.  We've been really fortunate that each of our friends who have just moved have left us some of their belongings to remember them by - clothes for Riley, toys for the kids, plants, kitchen items, home decor and organization items, etc, etc (hmmmm, but none of that alcohol Chelsea said she needed to find a new home for ... Erin, I'm looking at you, lady ... happy hour play date at your place one day soon?!?!).  I really like having these things as a reminder of everyone we have become close with.  I am a sentimental gal (and some may say a bit of a pack rat as well!)!

Usually we are the ones moving away (first Roy and I both moved away from home to Vancouver, then together we moved to Calgary, then Oxford, then Manhattan, then the Bronx, and finally here to Houston), so it is really strange to now be the ones staying put while friends move on.

I always think about the friends we've made in all the places we have lived, and I do my best to keep in touch.  I am one of the world's best keeper-in-touchers, though my non Facebook status really has started impede my ability to do so since that seems to be the norm for most everyone as a way to communicate with friends and family living afar.  All these friends packing up and moving on have really made me start to miss so many of our friends and family that live in every corner of the world.  So, if any of you are reading, send me an email or call or send some pictures ... or better yet, come visit!!!

  1. Hahaha...I'm pretty sure the movers made off with the last of our alcohol stash! Never fear, when we return to visit I will provide all we need for an afternoon playdate. Miss y'all already!
