Here are the kids dressed for school on the 30th:
Riley's class sang songs during their costume parade and had a little party in class with snacks and a pumpkin craft:
I made a snack mix with Halloween colors (pretzels, Cheez-Its, popcorn, Chocolate Chex, candy corn, and candy corn m&ms):
After school, I took the kids to IHOP for their free scary face pancakes for kids. They needed a filling snack before soccer practice and a later dinner, so this was perfect!
On Saturday, we got the kids dressed in their costumes for trick or treating! It rained all morning, but cleared up in the evening with only a few sprinkles of rain every now and then.
We went to The Heights for trick or treating. Roy's colleagues had invited us to come to their house to have dinner and to experience their street, which got about 1500 trick or treaters last year! We got there while it was still light and set off to walk up and down the street for some trick or treating before it got too dark and too busy.
One house was giving out cups of red or white wine to the parents - I liked that house!!
And we LOVED the look of this house! Right out of a movie!
Once we had done the majority of houses on the street, it had gotten dark and very busy and was starting to drizzle, so we headed back to Roy's colleagues'. The kids asked if they could help pass out candy and they sat on the steps doing so for a solid 2+ hours. They LOVED it! Leighton said it was even more than trick or treating! Didn't hurt that he was given free reign to eat ask much as he wanted out of the bowl and he was sneaking a collection of his favorites onto the step behind him to take home!!! I loved watching how excited they were, and was so impressed with how Riley wasn't shy at all! It was amazing how many people came to trick or treat - they said if all the candy was given out, it would be 1800 people! There was some left, but not much!
They had a bunny that was a breed that is SUPER soft. Riley loved that bunny.
We started talking about costume ideas for next year already! Hopefully I can sew them!

ReplyDeleteThat white house is amazing. You should drive by some time.
DeleteLooks like lots of fun. I can't imagine even trying to have enough treats for 1500-1800 gremlins. Love Riley's braids.
ReplyDeleteIt was the first time I braided her hair like that!
