Seattle 2018-19: Days 1 & 2

On the 29th we woke up E-A-R-L-Y to head to the airport.  We were all up somewhere between 4-4:40 and out the door by 5am!  When we got to the airport, everything went quickly and easily - parking the car, shuttle to the terminal, checking in our bags, security, walking to the gate, grabbing breakfast to go, and boarding for our 7am flight!  I swear I wasn't feeling as tired as I look in these photos at all!

We had a layover in Las Vegas - the first time the kids had touched down there and flown over the strip - seeing New York, New York and Paris were highlights for them for sure!  Also flying over the Grand Canyon was exciting for them, too (for me a little less so this time, as I was reading a book about two girls whose parents had died in a plane crash in the Grand Canyon!  Bad timing!).

When we landed in Seattle, things weren't as quick (but totally smooth) ... waiting for our bags, waiting for our shuttle to the car rental, having the guy switch our rental car after starting with a different one.  None of it was long, but we were REALLY hoping to make it to surprise Leighton with a tour of the Seahawks stadium.  When we got there, it was already a couple minutes late and then the parking meter was giving our card some difficulty (and it was POURING rain!), so we didn't make it.  But, we still had fun walking around the outside of the stadium and checking out the tea store.  When then walked down the block to the Seahawks stadium and team store and to a few other Seahawks stores right there.

We then drove out to Bellevue to check into our hotel.  We stopped at the Trader Joe's across the street (nice to have so close!) for a snack.  We relaxed a little and then went to meet up with everyone for dinner at Aunt Susan and Uncle Alan's.  Hope and Jon and the kids were already there.  Shortly after we got there, my parents arrived.

By the time we got to the hotel for bed, we had been up for 17.5 hours!

The next morning, we got up and had breakfast at the hotel.  Leighton loves his waffles!  Then we drove with my parents to see Lori and Michael and the boys.  Lori's parents, Barby and Donny met us to go out for brunch with mom and dad.  It was nice to see everyone.  I have no idea why - but I didn't get any photos this year.  Darn!

We then met Hope and Jon and the kids at the hotel so Riley could go swimming with them.

Then it was to Aunt Susan and Uncle Alan's for dinner again.  And ice cream for dessert, of course!

  1. The only time I've touched down in Vegas was when I flew to NYC to visit you and Roy... There was a horrible storm as we were landing, the airport was under renovation and there were slot machines everywhere - I was so overwhelmed!
