1. coordination (Riley meets hammer for the first time - she NAILED it, hee hee - get it? hee hee. okay moving on now)
2. self-control (Roy as he resisted every urge I could tell he was fighting to curse and/or smash the little fire truck to bits while trying to remove the teeny tiny nails that he and Leighton had so fantastically hammered in ... just a wee bit too soon - see point 3. below)
3. patience (Leighton as he waited for Daddy to extract nails from the piece he mistakenly put down without
4. construction skills (me ... okay, well ALL of us, but everyone else got something just for themselves and I wanted something just for me, too!)
The kids were thrilled to leave with their fire trucks and new aprons, goggles, and badges. Yes badgeS. Plural. Not only did we complete the fire trucks, but we also got the El Chupacabra (from the Disney Planes movie) that they had leftovers of from a previous build event to bring home to (calmly, patiently, and without any bent little nails) put together later in the afternoon. So, we got TWO badges. And you can bet I ironed them onto the aprons as soon as we walked in the door!
