Mr Six

Our Mr Leighton turned six on Wednesday, and we had a really nice day celebrating with him.

Riley and I went to have lunch with him at school.  It was fun to see him with all his friends!

After lunch, I was volunteering in the classroom to help with the laptop cart with another mom.  Riley had fun playing on the extra laptop and checking out lots of the classroom supplies.  Leighton kept trying to see what she was up to, but I tried to make sure he kept on task!  When the kids were done with their computer period, we joined them outside for recess and Leighton was able to share some cookies I made (Riley and Leighton even got a chance to finally use a piping bag to decorate something for themselves, too - they loved it!).

After school, we went to Leighton's old school to visit with the teachers there and to share some of the cookies.

When we got home, we Skyped with Grandma and Papa while Leighton opened his presents.

And then it was dinner time - and I was completely off the hook!  Leighton chose pup and meat for dinner again this year, so Roy was in charge (I made my components earlier in the day!).  And when I suggested to Leighton we have something other than cake for dessert (I was going to suggest the tart he loves so much), he was very receptive and thought Roy's idea of bread pudding was fantastic - so Roy took care of that, too!

  1. Inquiring minds want to know...how long does it take to decorate cookies like those? They are amazing. They should be in an art museum.

  2. I find that making the icing, coloring all the different colors and making the different consistencies I need is far more time consuming than doing the actual decorating. But I also love that part, so it seems to go quicker!

And a big happy birthday to Leighton from Cian and all of us here in the Bronx.
