A little Houston & a little NY

That was our weekend.

Yesterday it was hot, so the kids and Roy were in the pool.  Gotta love Houston for swimming in October!  I didn't get any pictures though because I was busy staining some wood for a little project for the kids' rooms.

Today, it was about 30 degrees cooler in the morning and we had a NY fall kind of day.  We tried a newly opened pizza place (Pinks - the one the kids and I had scoped out in June!) for lunch.  Their decor and style is very NYC, so we enjoyed that a lot.  They have 2 walls covered in a subway map, so I showed the kids all the places we lived and where the hospitals were that they were born in.  We also spotted the zoo and Central Park.  It was the hole in the wall style pizza that we've missed, so it was nice to have a taste of that!

After lunch, we went out to pick Persimmons.  The weather was slowly warming up, and by the time we finished it was back in the 80s, but it felt more fall-like after the cool morning, and it reminded us of all the apple picking fun we enjoyed in the fall in NY.

  1. I thought about the NY apple picking yesterday as we drove through miles and miles and miles of orchards on our way home. Hard to believe that Riley was so tiny the day we went after she was born. Can't wait to try the new pizza place.

The pizza is like the one we used to get from the place around the corner at NYU. I think you guys had it when you visited at that apartment that time.
