April 3
Riley asked for a tissue for her booger and then squished it in there and said, "Now it's dead!"
April 4
Leighton was reading something on the special Zoobilee passport at the zoo and read it as the 'Indiana' elephant instead of the Indian elephant.
April 4
On the way home form Zoobilee, Riley was SO tired and started rambling, "Hey! There is a car that looks like Leighton. I mean a car that looks like Daddy's car. But a black car." I am still wondering what a car that looks like Leighton would be!
April 6
This isn't really in the category of 'funny' but it was too cute to not record somewhere. Tonight Leighton and Roy went to the Rockets game, and Riley and I were out running an errand and after being quiet for a while, she says, "I hope Leighton is having fun. I want to kiss him when he comes home."
April 7
Today we got some mail from La Quinta, which is the hotel chain we stayed at over the Xmas break. Riley recognized it right away and kept telling me how much she loved staying there and that she couldn't wait to go back to Gun Barrel City. At one point, she sighed and said, "I love Gun Barrel City."
April 10
Today I got a blister after doing some raking outside. Riley kept asking questions about how it was feeling and if it was still stinging, and although I appreciated the care she was giving me, I couldn't figure out where the conversation was going. It all made sense when she said, "Tonight Daddy with bath me and Yate (her nickname for Leighton lately) because it hurts your hand in the water." She has a good memory because this same thing happened last month. So, tonight after she baths (with Daddy doing the bathing as per her plan), she tells us "Tonight Daddy will read me my stories. Your hand still sore Mama." Little does she realize I could hold and read a book perfectly fine (which I did next door with Leighton instead!), but we went along with it because it meant it was the first time she has ever let Roy read her stories and put her to sleep!
April 13
Today at the Easter Egg Hunt we went to at a church near by, they had all of the kids come together for a story about Easter. The woman started off by saying, "This is a story about Jesus." And at that point Leighton turned and said, "Uh. I knew it was going to be a boring one." And then a few minutes later, he said, "I don't know anything about church."
April 14
Today was in the 70s in the morning and it's been really warm lately (Leighton even swam in the pool for the first time of the season yesterday!), so it was pretty surprising that by pick up time it was just barely 50 degrees! When Leighton came out in his t shirt and shorts, I told him I was so sorry we sent him to school dressed like that and with no hoodie. He, of course, said it was fine. And then he laughed and said, "Because the cold never bothered me anyway!"
April 14
Leighton was filming Riley and was introducing her in their basketball game and said, "Now a round of acclause for her!"
April 20
Tonight when we were having dessert, Riley has being funny and cute, and Therese said to her, "I could eat you for dessert because you are so sweet!" Riley replied with, "Yucky!"
April 20
Tonight when it was time to brush and floss, Leighton was being a bit sensitive about his loose tooth. I told him we needed to still floss and mentioned something about gingivitis. A few moments later he was all teary eyed and when I asked why, he said he didn't want that 'gingerbread man thing.'
April 20
Riley fell and scraped her knees today, so in the bath tonight she wanted me to not touch them while washing her. She said, "Don't rubbish them!" When I told Leighton was the word 'rubbish' means in England, he had a good chuckle.
April 21
Riley was saying something about it being cold and I asked where it's cold and she said Minnesota! Apparently her brother has been teaching her things.
April 21
Leighton was talking about basketball teams (as always!) and called the team 'Cleaver-land' instead of Cleveland. Cute!
April 22
Today Riley and I were playing an Easter egg hunt game, and I was apparently hot doing the right thing because she said to me, "Why are you not egging hunting?"
April 26
Tonight the kids were eating some of their Cadbury Buttons from Easter, and during that time, Roy mentioned something about one of their bums. A minute later, Leighton was commenting on how yummy the buttons were because "they melt in my bum. I mean mouth!"
Last week of April
Leighton was looking in the mirror one night after bath and said, "One day I will have hair in these arm pits. But I will still lick them because they are yummy."

I can't remember the exact circumstances (I had it all typed and saved, but it got lost … grrrrr!) but Riley was singing about something in the bathroom and ended up thinking she had made up a word. That word was 'cock' and she continued to sing about it. Roy and I caught each other's eyes in the mirror and I had to leave the room so I wouldn't laugh. I just remember her singing, "cock. Cock. COCK. C-awwwwwww-K!
As always, I love these posts. These kids are so smart and cute and funny. And you are so smart to keep track.
