Leighton's school had it's annual movie night in April, and the kids were really excited to go. Unfortunately, Roy had a work event and couldn't join us, and then the weather forecast was for thunderstorms, so it was moved inside. But, we didn't let that keep us from having fun!
We picked up Joshua to take with us …
…. ate our burgers and hot dogs
… had cookies I brought (I figured I was not going to go pay for the kids to buy something at the bake sale after I baked and decorated for 2 days straight, so I brought some for these three sillies! You can see all the cookies and brownies I made for the bake sale here and here and here!)
…. did some coloring
…. tried out Alan's Dad's Shipley Donut flavored gelato
… and then settled in for the movie, but without popcorn because the machine had been overworked and was not longer producing! But after a while, they tried again and I got 2 of the first new bags for my 3 kiddos! The kids watched a bit of the movie, but mostly they sat and chatted with friends and had a great time. I had thought ahead and brought a pack of glow bracelets, thinking they kids would have fun with them outside during the movie. Glad I did because they actually had a table set up to buy some and these three kids were SO excited when I showed them I had a few for each of them already!
We started seeing some huge strikes of lightning and it was pretty late, so I told the kids we'd have to leave soon. None of them complained (shocker!!), so I took a note from Roy's parenting handbook, and we left on a high note before any overtired meltdowns! We walked Joshua home and only got rained on a little at first. Then we headed home and arrived almost at the same time as Roy, so the kids were happy to be up late enough (in the dark!) to say goodnight to Daddy.
