Riley's class had Pony Day at school. She got to ride a couple ponies and pet lots of animals in the petting zoo. Her favorite was definitely the baby bunny!
Riley and I spent an afternoon at the zoo with Rachel, Rory and Leah. We managed to tire Riley out!
Each spring, the school has a 'Muffins with Moms' morning (in the fall they do 'Donuts with Dads'), so I went into Leighton's classroom to do an activity with him while he ate my muffin!
Leighton's basketball season wrapped up last Saturday. After the game, we went down to the pool for the first swim of the season! Roy and I did not go in. Riley stood on the steps and then decided on the hot tub! Leighton was in the pool with his friend Harrison for about an hour playing football though. When they got out, he realized he was pretty cold!!!
Last Sunday, we went for a walk in the morning to run an errand, and in the afternoon we wanted to do something new and different. We drove to the San Jacinto monument, which is only about 25 minutes away. Leighton had learned about it at school in the fall, and before that we had never even heard of it! Leighton didn't want to go up to the top, but Riley and I took the elevator to the top. We pressed some pennies and had fun looking out over the shipping channel. We called Roy and Leighton so we could get them to stand and wave where we could see them. See if you can spot them in the picture!!!
The kids were really eager to go to a playground to play football/soccer (Leighton) and bike ride (Riley), so we went to the playground by the house we rented the first year we lived here. It was fun to think of when the kids were so much smaller and we'd walk there!
Swimming already? Yikes. I think I would opt for the hot tub along with Riley. I'll have to look up the San Jacinto monument to see what it is all about.
