The wrap up of the soccer season

Since Riley joined her team late in the season, she only had a few practices and games.  But she loved every minute of it.  She really improved over the short time as well.  She was a lot of fun to watch, especially the funny faces she makes when concentrating on kicking the ball!

I managed to catch one of Leighton's goals in one of their last games.  He kicked the ball over the goalie's head here:

Riley's team had a little end of season party after her last practice.

The big brothers enjoyed it, as well!

And she got her first ever medal.  She was sooooooo thrilled!

And Leighton was introduced to Pickle Pops!  Frozen pickle juice!  He looooooves them.

Leighton's last practice was a scrimmage against the parents.  It was a really hot day, and we were blessed with rain during the game so it looked down.  I used to LOVE playing soccer in the rain, so I was super happy to have my first game in years (many, many of them!) in the rain!  We got soaked, and the sun only came back out right as we were leaving.  It was a really fun time!

Here are some pictures from Riley's last game of the season:

And from Leighton's, too.  He started out playing forward and taking lots of corner kicks:

And then he played goalie for a while.  Here he is stopping a goal by the other team's star player (and one of the most impressive 10 year old athletes I have ever seen - that boy will end up a superstar, I bet!):

But the next time, Brady got by him:

And then it was back to playing up front and taking corners!

This shot was an assist:

A nice shot of him getting the ball past Brady:

And taking a good shot that the goalie juuuuuust got a foot on:

After the game, there was a little team party.

We're excited for the next season in the fall!
