The funny things they say: August 2016 edition

August 7
We were watching the Olympics and a commercial came on for Always pads with the Canadian women's soccer goalie.  After the commercial, Leighton said, "When I am a goalie, I want to use those, too, to absorb the impact of the ball."  I had to clarify with him, but he did think after seeing her hold them in her hands that it was a commercial showing that maxi pads on your hands can absorb the impact of someone taking a shot on goal if you are the goalie!

We were watching the Olympics tonight, and they showed the book that the American backstroke gold medalist and new world record holder made for him mom when he was 8 saying he was going to be in the Olympics and beat a world record.  I told Leighton since he is also 8 he needed to get some paper and write a book and draw some pictures to show us what he's going to be when he grows up so we can have it to show on TV.  We were telling him he had to be neat and take his time and do a perfect job like that boy did, and he looked at us and threw his arms up and said, "What do you mean?  He spelled Olympian wrong!"  Funny that he caught that on the screen and neither Roy nor I did!  **but we saw it again another night and all realized it was actually spelled correctly**

Leighton couldn't remember the name of the country 'Micronesia' and so he called it Mini Town!

Riley was playing, and Leighton said, "Riley just said sugar, honey, iced tea."  I wasn't sure why this was a big deal, but after he repeated it to me a few times, and then said "No Mommy, she didn't say sugar, honey, iced tea - she said the REAL thing."  After a minute I got it - Sugar, Honey, Iced Tea = S.H.I.T.  So apparently Leighton knows a bad word :)  He told me his friend at school taught him that.

Roy and Riley were doing funny impressions, and Riley copied Roy and said, "I'm going to make you an offer that doesn't exist." instead of "I'm going to make you an offer you can't refuse."
