Our poor boy had a fever the last day of school and couldn't go. He was so incredibly upset when he realized that he'd not be there and all the fun he'd miss (I had helped Pauline and Jenny plan the party, so he knew everything that would be going on!) and that he'd not have the chance to say goodbye to lots of his friends (even though I reminded him how often he'd see his bestest friends over the summer). We felt really bad for him.
Luckily, after the initial wave of disappointment passed, he settled in for a couple days at home filled with cuddling with, reading to, and picking beans with his sister:
As I explained in this post, it has become tradition that I make a cake/cupcakes/special desserts on the first and last day of school. This year I had planned on some ice cream cone cookies, so I was glad I had those to help make Leighton feel better.

Good to see the smiles even though there was disappointment and illness. And the beans did really well in that location!
ReplyDeleteThey did early on! Now it's so hot and they needed some more fertilizing I think.
