Riley was pretending to talk to Roy on the phone and when I asked what he was doing, she said, "Working on the puter and drinking wine like the does every week.' Sounds like a nice work life he has!

The kids have been asking lots of questions about what it will be like when we visit my parents this summer since they'd never been and it's a bit more rural than where we live. In the car, Riley randomly asked, "Will Grandma and Papa have apple juice?"

Riley grabbed a can of something as we were shopping at the grocery store, put it to her lips, and proclaimed, "mmmmm, this is good wine!"

Leighton was listing all the hockey teams and pronounced Winnipeg as 'Winnie-pig' and San Jose as 'San Joes'.

Riley has been saying, "oh my gosh" a lot lately. We finally figured it out that she got it from Therese when they visited last month!
May 8
When we were eating dinner, Leighton said "I don't like the icing on this meat." Apparently there is too much cake and cookie icing in this house if he's forgetting that on meat it was sauce not icing!
May 9
We were looking through the photo books I make of the kids each season, and Leighton said, "Every book you make, the more uncute Riley gets." I am sure what he really meant was that she was such a cute baby and she looks less small baby-like as she gets older but that she's still cute ;)
May 11
Riley has been saying 'Whoa my doodles' lately in place of 'holy cow' or 'holy doodles'.
May 14
Riley called high heels 'raise up shoes' and it reminded me of when Leighton started school right before he turned 3 and came home telling me that his teacher had 'tippy toe shoes' just like me!
May 19
Riley and I were walking to get Leighton from school, and as usual, the teenage boys from the high school jogged past. They never wear their shirts so we call them the naked teenagers or naked boys. Riley said, "The naked guys are HOT HOT HOT. I bet."
May 19
We were walking home and somehow started talking about peeing. Leighton says, "It's easier for boys to pee than girls because they have a penis and not a vagina." I asked him why it's easier, and he said, "Because a penis sticks out. You can move it around. A vagina can't move around. It's part of the bum." I reminded him that the vagina isn't part of the bum or he'd have one in his bum, too. He then clarified that he just meant that like the bum, a vagina is just stuck to your body. But a penis can stick out, move around. And "You can point a penis. You can't point a vagina."

Riley and Roy went to the grocery store in the morning to get her on a little outing since she had been stuck in the house with her sick brother. They got some donuts. When she came home, she was very excited to tell me, "I have a present for you. It's not a donut. It's a piece of hair!" And he proceeded to pass me a piece of hair. Lovely.

Leighton was telling me that when he bit his lip at school the other day, he actually ended up eating the blood and it was pretty yummy. He now has Riley convinced that eating and drinking blood is tasty.

Riley and I were reading a story that had a little boy crying. There were some black lines on his face for some reason, and she asked what they were. I told her I wasn't sure, and she said, "Maybe they are his cries." I told her that the wet things that come out of your eyes when you are crying are called tears, not cries!
May 28
Riley was playing a little game and told me that the "remedy for Leighton being sick is peanut butter and jelly." I asked her how she knew the word remedy and then I realized it is from Doc McStuffins!
May 28
We were watching a little slideshow of pictures from Leighton's kindergarten year today, and he pointed at one picture of a big group of them on a field trip and said, "That's when Clementine was holding my penis." I asked for some clarification and found out she was trying to climb up onto something beside him and while trying to pull herself up she grabbed him by accident.
May 30
Today Riley and I were playing, and she said, "Get up, Mommy. Let's go to the Solar System."
Can I come along to the solar system? What a wonderful idea.
ReplyDeleteAs always, cute kids come up with the most wonderful view of the world.
Maybe RIley can take you when we come visit :)
Delete"Woah my doodles" is something I am going to start saying too because I like it. I always love these posts!!! The other night, Hannah said, "I can't fall asleep with all this joy in me." I love that one!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great way to feel before bed!
