The funny things they say: October 2014 edition

Oct 1
Tonight I was putting Leighton's shin guards, soccer socks, and soccer shoes and needed him to push his leg towards me.  He said, "But I don't want to kick you in the boobs."  I kept any signs of laughter inside and asked where he heard about 'boobs'.  From a kid at school, of course.

Oct 1
Riley told me she was 'exhausterating'.  I couldn't agree more!

Oct 6
At the library, the kids were doing an art activity and Riley brought hers over to me to show me what she drew.  Then she turned it over to show me a drawing on the back and says, "And here's a happy ending!"

Oct 8
Riley was giving me a check up and writing down her diagnosis in her big book of booboos and told me that the remedy was to, "Rest, rest, rest, and bake."

Oct 9
Tonight we were playing a rhyming game at dinner, and Leighton says, "I know one that rhymes with traffic!  Paccic.  Paccic and traffic rhyme."  I had to let him know that I didn't think paccic was a word. He said, "Yes.  The Paccic Ocean."  Ohhhhh, the Pacific Ocean. He was just missing the syllable with the 'if' :)

Oct 10
Riley told me today, "You can be paired, Mommy." but what she really meant was 'prepared'!

Oct 11
Riley said to me: "Do you know what marvelous means?  It means you are fashionable-er."

Oct 11
Leighton was cuddling me on the couch and I had bare legs.  His hand touched my leg and he pulled his hand away and said, "Ack!  Your legs are zingy!"  When I asked him to explain what he mean, he said "Your hairs are like electric wires!"

Oct 14
Riley told me, "Don't worry, Mom.  I can deal this."  She meant 'deal WITH this'!

Oct 15
We were talking about the difference between an attic and a basement.  Riley said she knew that a basement is where the ice cream is at Grandma and Papa's!

Oct 16
Riley and I saw an airplane in the sky while at Leighton's soccer practice.  Leighton now gets really excited when he sees a Southwest plane since that is the airline we flew with this summer, so Riley got excited and asked, "Is that a wild west plane?" I told her it's Southwest not Wild West!

Oct 16
Riley said she had stinky bum fever.

Oct 23
Riley: Amy is going to have a baby soon?
Me: Yes! And do you know who else is having baby soon?
Riley: Noooo
Me: Lindsey!
Riley: (eyes wide with surprise and delight) Lindsey?
Me: Yes! Maeve and Nash will have a little baby brother or sister! Did you notice Lindsey's belly getting bigger like Amy's?
Riley: Yes! I did!
Riley: (after loooong pause and looking at the baby pictures up on the wall) But how do babies get out of a belly?
Me: There are two different ways. Some babies come out through the mommy's vagina. That's how you and Leighton came out.
Riley: (after a long pause deep in thought) But how? A vagina is so small?
Me: It stretches when it's time for a baby to come out.
Riley: (after a long pause deep in thought) But then how does it go back to normal?!?!
Me: Your body can stretch and contract - that means it can get bigger and smaller when it needs to. The other way a baby can come out is that the Drs cut a small line on your tummy and take the baby out that way.
Riley: You mean then cut off part of your tummy?!?!
Me: No. They don't cut it off. They just open it a little and then close it back up.

Oct 26
Riley came out of the TV room declaring, "I have hairy monkey legs. I have hairy monkey legs."

Oct 26
We were talking about Halloween candy and Riley thought that Twix were called Twigs!
