January 2015 Summary

We always start off the new year by celebrating Roy's Birthday.  Here is a look back at a post with pictures of the kids with Roy and his annual request for cake and custard as his birthday dessert!  The pictures there are from 2013, 2012, and 2011.  The pictures from 2014 are here.  So fun to look back to see how the kids have changed (but Roy's dessert of choice has not!).  Here is 2015's photo!

We had some nice days for playing outside ...

And then we were getting freeze warnings, so the kids helped me put many of our plants in the garage to try to protect them.

I was so surprised to see my cherry tomato plant with new fruit in January!

The kids had a great time in Leighton's art class getting ready to start the school's 2015 Art Car Parade entry.  The theme this year was time/clocks - 'Owl's a Good Time'!  Last year's car was decorated in hundreds of CD's and the theme was 'Disc is Owl We Do It'.  I know the theme for 2016 will be something to do with light bulbs, but I can't remember the tag line!

There was great weather for the jog-a-thon this year again!

And gas got really cheap!

We went to a Rockets game.  Leighton was excited to wear his new jersey that he got from Uncle Kevin and Kirsten for Christmas.  There was a late afternoon start time on Martin Luther King Jr Day and had a family pack of tickets that came with hot dogs and lunch bags for the kids.

The month ended with another round of really great weather for play dates at the playgrounds and zoo!
