My grandma (my Mom's mom) passed away yesterday and so my Mom is in Seattle right now with her sister and brother taking care of everything there is to take care of. I know that she is trying to be very practical about it all, but it is a sad time, so I wanted to post a few pictures that would make her smile. Because, if there is anything that can cheer her up, it's her grandchildren. And ice cream! Guess I should have fed the kids ice cream today and taken pictures of that. Too late. They are asleep and I'm going to eat the ice cream :)
Leighton has been really wanting me to put pig tails in Riley's hair, so we finally went to get some elastics at the dollar store the other day. Her hair is really long when combed straight, but WOW does it ever just want to curl. It does not want to be combed straight. Not even a little bit. So, I did the best I could with her curly hair and little miss squiggly pants trying to get away from me and/or pull the elastics out the entire time. They aren't neat and tidy. But they are cute. And very smile-worthy for Grandma. I know she's been waiting to see these pictures. Too bad Riley didn't want to look right at the camera for me!
After her nap and a morning of playing, the pig tails were barely noticeable.
I was going to take them out, but Leighton REALLY wanted Daddy to see them when he got home from work. Surprisingly, Riley let me 'fix it' while she had snack. They weren't any neater. But they were still cute!
The following day Leighton wanted me to do just one ponytail on top. Riley was mildly cooperative and I distracted her long enough that she forgot it was there after a while.
And here's one of little Mr hair stylist. He's looking at some fish in the bayou on one of our walks this week.
soooo cute! made me smile too!
ReplyDeleteOh, good. I'm glad!
DeleteSorry for your loss but I can see how those munchkins could bring a smile to anyone's face :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ashley.
DeleteSmiling (but with a few tears in my eyes). Love the "pony whales" (for those who don't know, that is what Leighton used to call them when he was little). Definitely grandchildren and ice cream can make any day better.
ReplyDeleteGlad we could help put a smile on your face. Hope the Skyping today helped with that, too.
DeleteBecky-I'm sorry about your grandma :(
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda. Lovely to hear from you. Hope you are all well!
