Happy Mother's Day

So I'm a little late.  Sorry.  I have been told (in a not so subtle way) by Roy that I've been slacking with the blog lately.  He even sent me a couple pretty funny emails pestering me on the subject and I haven't yet decided if his punishment should be that I publish them here!

Anyway, as I was saying, Happy (belated) Mother's Day to my Mom and all the other wonderful Moms I know.

Leighton had been telling me he had a surprise up his sleeve for me over the past several weeks.  He was really good at not letting any details slip.  When I woke up on Sunday morning, he was so excited to give me the gift he had made for me with the help of Daddy.  They made me some tile trivets.  Leighton wrote on the front and together they glued some soft fabric on the back that won't scratch the table.  I can't believe I don't have a photo of them, but I will take one tomorrow and get it on here!

We then went out for lunch at a Mexican restaurant.  My favorite.  And there are SO many to choose from here!  We went to Guadalajara and had a tasty meal (and strawberry mango margarita!).  I have always been a big fan of the chips and salsa they serve at Mexican restaurants and this place was no exception.  They had a red salsa and a green one that was amazing.  They sent me home with a container full when I asked.  Yay!

After lunch, we stopped at the grocery store to grab a few things for dinner.

We then went to the zoo for a leisurely stroll.  We watched the tortoises, had some snack, groped the monkey statue's penis, you know, all the things one does at the zoo.  It was nice to be outside in the sunshine!

When we got home, some neighbors were outside, so we chatted for a while and Leighton played Frisbee with his friend Mihal.  Excuse me, that would be his wife.  Not friend.  They got married last week when he went over for a play date.  Although, I guess technically, the wedding took place after Mother's Day so they weren't married at this time yet.  The conversation that took place when Leighton broke the news that he had eloped will be in another blog post to come!
