The school Leighton attends is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Magnet school, so some of their extra activities are focused around this. On the weekend, they had a Family Math day that we attended. There were many different stations with different math activities that we could work through. They were set up so that most could be completed by even the youngest kids, like Leighton (and Riley, too!). We had to estimate how many candies were in a jar (Leighton did it on his own and won for pre-K!), we did some probability activity with m&ms, we played candy corn bingo and helped measure and mix batter for pancakes. There was bowling with different amounts of money assigned to each pin. Leighton got to estimate and see how many pumpkins tall he was and how many pumpkins he could jump. All sorts of fun math activities!
that sounds so wonderful! and it looks like riley has grown by at least a pumpkin and a half in the last little while - when did she get so tall?
