As we walked up to the store on Sunday afternoon, Leighton was asking me about all the signs people had in their yards, so we were talking a little bit about the election (Roy had already told me that Leighton wanted to vote for himself to be
president! I guess that's our next goal after the Olympics!?!?). He was disappointed that he couldn't vote in this election at the ripe, old age of 5 and was interested to hear about who could and could not vote in our family based on age and citizenship.
Once we had all of that sorted, he asked a few times again who the two names were that could be voted on for president, and then he (in a very serious manner) asked Riley, "Riley if you could vote, would you vote for Oromney or Obama?" As you can imagine, I was having a good giggle at that, but then I was taken right over the edge to full on snorting laughter when Riley (as equally as serious) answered, "Um. Bama."
When I went to vote this morning, I was thinking, "Oromney or Obama? Um. Bama." as I read the ballot ... but I was tempted to choose the Write-In Candidate option and put Leighton ;)
Only 30 more years and Leighton is eligible to run for president (if I remember correctly but I could be wrong).
