Riley's social life

I'm guessing it's normal for the 2nd child to tag along to play dates for the older sibling and to not have as many little friends of his/her own.  At least, I keep telling myself it's normal.  But I still feel bad.  LONG before the age of 2, Leighton had a large group of friends he saw regularly.  Riley?  Not so much.  I'm working on it now that Leighton is in school though.

The Y has a play group called 'Creative Play' that is on a drop in basis every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning.  I've been trying to get us there at least once a week.  Riley loves scooting on the scooters, running and jumping on the mats, climbing through the tunnel, and walking on the balance beam.  Her favorite part is clean up time though!  She loves dragging the big blue mats to put them away.

She is recognizing a few of the kids we see there regularly, and we've met one good friend there who has also invited us to join her regular play group filled with many kinds Riley's age.  This group meets on Wednesday mornings and we've been able to join them a few times so far (the big brother even joined us yesterday since he was off school - he was so excited to meet her friends!).

We've met another group of moms and kids that meet up on Wednesdays at different playgrounds, and we've started to join them as well.  There are kids in a wide range of ages, so both Riley and Leighton are having fun when we meet up with them.  There will be some photos in a post about playgrounds that is coming soon!

  1. Miss Riley is modeling some very cute outfits and a variety of hairstyles. Love the full on braided pony tails (or pony whales).
