There are many little things that Riley does that remind me of Leighton when he was younger (and even more things that he NEVER did!), but the other day when she requested to bring along a book while we changed her diaper, I immediately thought of the time Leighton did that and stayed there even after his diaper was changed just hanging out reading (he could be trusted alone up high for a minute at that age, but Riley? NO way!). I still can see it perfectly in my mind (and lucky for you - I dug up the picture I took of him for you to see, too!) and decided I better snap a quick one of Riley with my phone to compare.
And, hopefully there won't be too much longer of diaper changes in our lives because Riley has finally decided that she might be ready to start trying out this whole toilet thing.
I am not holding my breath, but maybe, just maybe, we will get her out of diapers sometime in the relatively near future. Would be great if she did THIS just like her brother - he declared he wanted to use the toilet one day (before he even turned 2!) and that was that. No messing around. Put on the underwear and use the toilet. Done. Just like that. It was so easy for us. I don't think we can get that lucky twice!
Here are some pictures of Leighton when he first started wearing underwear. Such a cute little guy!

Yay for Riley...for both wanting to read and wanting to try being a big girl on the toilet. Never having had little boys around, I always think Leighton's underwear is very cute. Can't wait to see Riley wearing her dots.
ReplyDeleteI know - the book reading is also just as exciting with Riley!
