We got together with Lindsey, Charlie, Maeve and Nash TWICE yesterday!
First we saw them in the morning when they came to watch Leighton's soccer game It made Leighton pretty excited to have such a large cheering section!
Riley was thrilled to have Maeve there - she thinks Maeve is her own personal doll, I think! She fed her cheerios and helped her cheer by clapping her hands for her.
After the game, the kids figured they'd be cute and hand out in one of the nets on the side.
After that, we said goodbye so we could get the kids home for lunch and naps (not Leighton, but the other three!) and so I could do a grocery store run and get some dinner prep taken care of.
And then, we had them over for a fun family dinner. I didn't get a chance to take many pictures because I was in the kitchen a bunch and then sitting with my cocktail the rest of the time ;) I did get a few ... mostly of food though!
Pimms
Roasted habanero and pineapple cream cheese dip
Strawberry and goat cheese bruschetta
Ribs and Boerewors
Watermelon, feta, mint, and red onion salad (oops ... forgot the reduced balsamic dressing!)
Corn and roasted asparagus
Sweet potato biscuits (This was the first time making these. They were super easy and really moist and tasty. Will definitely make them again)
Cream puffs (I always make the puffs with this recipe and have used various recipes for the cream filling. My favorite is the pastry cream from our favorite tart recipe, but I was too rushed this time so grabbed a box of instant French vanilla pudding and mixed it up with some whipped cream to cut the 'puddingness' of it.)
and everyone enjoying the cream puffs, especially Leighton, who ate the most - FIVE!
Wow that is quite a fantastic menu!
ReplyDeleteIt was really yummy :)
