Day 4: Memphis and Germantown
We spent a little while in the morning hunting for Johnny Cash's music note and returning to The FedEx Forum and the Elvis Statue for pictures.
And then we checked out of the hotel and drove over to the Bass Pro Shop Pyramid, which we had heard was pretty fun to check out because there were fish and alligators and lots to look at. You can also pay to take the elevator to the top observation deck, but we didn't do that! We wandered around, got some fudge form the fudge shop, grabbed souvenirs (don't we always?!), and were on our way!
We then left downtown Memphis and went out to Central BBQ for lunch. We were excited to have some Memphis BBQ. And then we went out to a really neat park I had read about called Shelby Farms. I knew the kids would appreciate the playground because it was more of an outdoor adventure park than a typical playground. We were hoping to find the bison range, too. In warmer temperatures, it would be fun to try the zip lining and peddle boats. Next time!
It was then time to head to Germantown to Detlef's house, where we were going to be spending the next two nights. The kids were extremely happy to run around the yard and to get to help start a fire and hang out with Detlef's teenage boys making s'mores!
