Spring Break road trip: Day 7

Day 7: Shreveport to Houston

After breakfast at the hotel, we got ourselves organized and packed our stuff back into the car.  Then we backtracked on the highway a couple miles to go to Southern Made Donuts.  I had read they were famous in Shreveport, so we had to try them!  And even though it was a Sunday morning and not after 4pm, they were hot and fresh!

We stopped in Lufkin, TX for lunch.  We'd eaten our weight in burgers and BBQ on the trip, so we opted for Mexican at Cafe del Rio for a change of pace!  The food was good, and the kids were super excited there was a self-serve ice cream machine!

Along the way we saw towns with fun names.  And when you are on a long road trip, sometimes things are probably just funnier than maybe they'd be in your every day life, but Roy got a kick out of Dibbol and he and the kids kept teasing me about how often I mentioned Nacogdoches!

We got home in time to unpack, do laundry, relax a bit, and then get ready for reality of back to work and school the next day!

  1. This was a wonderful trip for all of you. All your research certainly paid off with great places to visit and eat. All that barbecue and ice cream looks fantastic and is making me hungry.
