The kids and I met Erin, Emlia and Addie at the playground one day after school. Every time we go to that play ground, Leighton asks to go to Jerry Built for dinner, so instead of rushing home for dinner before driving back to the same neighborhood for soccer, I figured we'd go and use up some free burger coupons we had there instead. Riley had homework she needed to get done, and I always try to get Leighton to do his on Monday nights even though it isn't due until Friday (I can at least TRY to not create a mini-me procrastinator!!!), so while we waited for our food, the kids got to work! They both LOVE homework, so it wasn't even difficult to convince them. The hard part was actually getting Leighton to STOP wanting to practice his spelling test words once our food arrived!
Last weekend, the weather was cool enough in the morning that we could play outside for a couple of hours. It's nice to get into that routine again now that the summer heat is slowly retreating a bit.
The kids were off school Friday, and when we went out to play, we needed to move the car first. The kids were pretty proud of themselves climbing into my front seat while I backed the car up 20 feet.
The next morning we were out again. Here is Riley playing in one of our several cardboard boxes.
And her first ever drawing of a hamburger.
And some videos of her reciting the Pledge of Allegiance (she has learned it in school). It's too cute. I remember Leighton coming home from school knowing it as well.
After lunch, the kids had a swim in the pool.
On Sunday, Roy and the kids made pretzels. They were so yummy! And the kids had fun learning to roll them.
On Monday, we met up with Monica, Michelle, and Iman and all the kids for a Fire Prevention Week flame drawing activity.
On Wednesday, we went to Douniazed's to play with Zayne and Soraya. Riley wanted all sorts of videos taken of her:
After playing, we had a couple errands to run before soccer, so I brought dinner for the kids to eat on the road. They were so excited about their big containers filled with little containers of chick peas, tortellini, and carrots.
Friday I noticed some little beginnings of the 'evil' teeny tiny pieces that fall from the tree over the pool. Roy and I quickly got the cover put on before too many could get in and make a major mess like we had last year. Riley put some muscle into it to help us out!
And that gets us all caught up!!!

riley's pledge of allegiance was very impressive! and that second pic of the kids in the pool reminds me of the one of us (you and me) in the spokane pool!
ReplyDeleteYes! We will need mom to dig that one out to compare!
ReplyDeleteI've been following the blog, but haven't been commenting. Great pledge of allegiance, and some day when the house is back in relatively normal state, I'll see if I can find that photo.
ReplyDeleteIt was in scans you sent last christmas!
