Summer vacation: Week 12

Monday
We met up with Pauline, Jenny, Lindsey, and Michelle and all the kids for a Costco lunch and shopping trip.  The kids and I then went to Trader Joe's for one last 'look for Woody' summer adventure before they are in school.

Tuesday
In the afternoon, Kate & the girls came for a swim.

Wednesday
In the morning, we went to the Y for one last swim there before school starts back up and it closes for the year.  In the afternoon we met Michelle and Pauline and the kids for ice cream at Baskin Robbins.  We had the coupons that the kids earned through the Bellaire Library summer reading program that we needed to use up!

Thursday
In the morning, we met Monica and the kids for our last zoo splash pad visit of the summer.  The kids and I then went to the Swap Shop for them to take in their sand and rocks from the beach at Grandma and Papa's.  We also saw some GIANT bugs :)

Friday
It was Leighton's MEET THE TEACHER day at school!  I also spent a few hours working at my 'Room Parent' table since Pauline & I are the Room Parent Chairs for the school this year.  Leighton decided to make a book for his new teacher.  He worked really hard to copy out a story he had already written in very neat writing and then illustrated it.  Please enjoy!

Here he is in his new desk!

Thinking hard ….

Finally a real smile while looking at me!

 And Riley reading with Daddy.

In the afternoon, Samantha and Ava came for a swim.  Can't believe it took until the last day of summer to finally have them over!  Busy busy!

Saturday
We went out to meet Wyatt and Cameron and Barbie for a swim at their community pool.  Leighton and Wyatt are in the same class this year (but most of the rest of Leighton's group of boy friends are all in a different class), and it was great for the boys to get together before the year started.

Riley taught herself how to float and can last a looooooong time.  I tried to get it on video here, but it wasn't one of her really long ones, unfortunately.

And the boys on the diving boards.

Sunday
We spent the day doing loads of yard work and swimming in our pool.  It was a very productive and relaxing day!
