The funny things they say: August 2014 edition

Either the kids weren't very funny in August or I was lazy/preoccupied/busy and didn't record what they said very well.  I'd love to blame it on them, but I am pretty sure it's my fault!!!  I will hope to be better in September!  Here are a few little gems that I did get written down though ...

Aug 7
We were talking about raising animals to eat.  And Leighton says, "So you take good care of them and then you eat them?  That's a win win!"

Aug 15
I was making Yakisoba for dinner, and Riley asked, "Is it yummysoba or yuckysoba?"

Aug 26
Leighton made up a joke
Q: what do you call a tree that's hurt?
A: a tree limp (instead of tree limb.  get it?  get it?)

Aug 26
We were sitting at dinner, and Riley said something about Leighton being "that cool guy right there!"

Leighton's shoelaces are really cool and orange, but they also are slippery and don't stay tied super well.  A while ago, Kim suggested tucking in the laces but since he rarely wore these shoes in the summer, I had forgotten about it.  Now that we are back to school, his laces are constantly undone, so yesterday morning I tried tucking them in and he came home with them the exact same way.  When I mentioned it to him, he said, "Kim rocks!"

I gave Riley a new pair of shoes to try on in the house today and she was so excited about them.  She then told me they were so fabulous that she had to go in Daddy's car because it's fancier!

Aug 29
I sneezed and Riley said, "Excuse your bleskins!"

Aug 29
Riley told us, "I am a drama monster."  I always call her a drama queen, but drama monster is a MUCH better description for her!  I love that she came up with that.

Leighton told me today, I'm thankful for commas.  When I asked him to elaborate, he explained that if there wasn't commas, it would be "Let's eat Leighton!" instead of "Let's eat, Leighton!" … funny guy!

Tonight when Riley was rambling about something so she could feel like she was contributing to the conversation, she said "If you see a raccoon.  Or something stinky.  You know what that is?  A stunk."  And you know what?  She's right!  Why isn't it called a STUNK instead of a SKUNK??!!
