It was hard to believe that our vacation was over, but it was time to leave our apartment in Paris and head to the airport. We had a cab waiting for us, and we got to the airport in good time. Riley fell asleep again!
It is funny how all airports are different with their security requirements - here they didn't have anyone take off shoes (which I commented to Roy was interesting since the shoe bomber was at this airport and now everywhere we've been in the last 15 years we need shoes off, but not here!), but I needed to take out my camera for them to look at separately which never happens, and Riley's Kindle Fire they considered a tablet that needed closer inspection.
Anyway, Roy had warned me that when he flew through Paris on his way to Italy a few years ago that it was a big and confusing airport. And when we went through one area and the guy said we just needed to turn left and walk 1km, he wasn't kidding! There was a loooooong line for customs & immigration. Not quite as long as arriving in Jamaica last year though - and at least it was air conditioned! But once we were through, we had time to relax at the gate before boarding. There were some Xbox stations that the kids played on. And Riley and I bought a few treats for the plane.
And a few last pictures ....
Can I just say that I love Air France? You can get up and help yourself to ice cream bars ...
And then they come around and offer you more!
We landed, got through customs/immigration, took the shuttle to our car, and were home in the afternoon. Our bodies were still on Paris time, but we stayed up until about 8:30 Houston time and all slept through til the morning. We ended up not being sleepy and sleeping at strange times at all. It was a pretty easy transition back to this time zone!

Total walking: Just the walking in airports!

Looks like a perfect way to end a trip that was filled with ice cream. Leighton and Riley are now experienced world travelers. I think they need to come back to Canada for their next trip. So glad you all had such a wonderful time, saw so many interesting things, had the chance to visit with far away friends and family, and shared the experiences as a family.
ReplyDeleteYes, totally experienced world travelers - so I think they need to come visit Croatia! We have loads of ice cream and those same trampolines right here in Stari Grad ;)
DeleteLooks like an absolutely fantastic vacation (and yes, I would also love to know what Roy bought in Paris!). Thanks for sharing!
We definitely need another Canada trip!
DeleteCroatia is also somewhere we need to get to soon!!! The tramapolones there would be fun!!!
DeleteRoy didn't buy anything - he did in London the week before though!!
