Summer Vacation: Day 6 - Wallingford and Oxford

Today was our day to take the kids into Oxford to show them all the places we used to go when we lived there!  And I was looking forward to showing Leighton some Harry Potter filming locations.

Sarah's mom and step-dad Pete drove us into Oxford.  It was really nice to get to see them again!

We started at Christ Church to tour and see the dining hall and grounds where Harry Potter filmed.

Next we walked by Oriel College (this wasn't even intentional!), which is where Roy and I spent our first few nights living in Oxford until we found our apartment.  I took a picture of the window we thought was ours!

It was exciting to see a REAL red phone box!

We took a quick walk through the Covered Market for some Ben's Cookies.  I never had them when we lived there, but Sarah suggested them as a warm, yummy treat, and the kids were very pleased!

We then made our way to Gloucester Green, which was the square where our apartment was.  You can see the door over my left shoulder in this photo!

There are several food stalls set up there now.  The kids & Sarah had some pizza and wraps.  Roy, Gareth, and I went for kebabs.  Leighton and Riley raved about their pizza - and it was a steal of a deal at a rice of only 5 pounds!

We then walked toward the Bridge of Sighs, the Turf Tavern, and the Radcliffe Camera.

We laughed when we noticed Henry's hand on Riley's bum!

And we ended our time in Oxford at The Head of The River Pub.  Roy and I went there many times and were happy to sit and enjoy a couple drinks there again!  We stopped for a rest on a bench at one point, and the kids loved that someone had written on it that it was a 'Posh Bench'!  We also took a few more pictures at Christ Church.

We then took a bus back towards Sarah and Gareth's.  We got off at a gorgeous cafe on the water and got an ice cream.

We then walked across the water and watched a boat going down the locks and then had a gorgeous walk along the water and up through Wallingford Castle Meadows.  Leighton was pretty thrilled to see cows!

When we got back to the house, the kids played outside and Lily even taught Riley how to ride a bike!  We sat inside enjoying some BEYOND delicious Pimms (one of the things I really miss about England - you just can't get the right lemonade here!!).

The kids played and played.  We had dinner.  The kids played and played some more!

And then it was time to say goodnight and get some laundry done!
