June edition: The funny things they say

June 1
Tonight Leighton was yacking on about something to do with something getting in his mouth and then the path it was traveling in his body to his brain.  He then says, "Daddy, I just figured something out!  Do I get a Nobel Prize?"  It was funny, but Roy's response was even better, "You have to publish it first!"

June 3
Roy asked Riley why she had so many cucumbers left on her plate and she told him, "Because Mommy put so much on mine plate."

June 3
Riley was calling nipples 'mouchy buttons'.

June 3
Riley and I were looking at a book with pictures of different vehicles.  She got so excited about the garbage truck and the snow plow and asked to see them outside.  She was very disappointed that I didn't think she'd see a snow plow outside here.  She's never even heard of one before but felt the need to see one!

June 5
Leighton asked me if there were any doody traps around.  I asked him what a doody trap was and he said it was something from a movie that Ms Loyd showed them.  I figured out he meant BOOBY trap and not DOODY trap!

June 6
Riley: In Daddy lab has mice.  No pink mice.
Me: What color mice does he have?
Riley: Um, maybe green?
Me: Maybe.  Did you ask him?
Riley:  No have time.

June 7
Leighton was in the bath rambling on about toys and then China.  Not sure where this all came from but it was something like this:
"I don't like China ... they make too many toys ... the name should be toy town not China ... Every store you go to, it's China, China ... Chinatown."

June 10
Roy printed out some Monopoly money for the kids to cut out and play with.  Riley called herself the 'Moneygirl'!!

June 10
I asked Leighton if he had to go to the bathroom, and Riley pipes up with, "Go poop, Yayton.  Mine no wanna smell that no more."

June 17
We were calling Leighton to come to dinner and Riley yells out, "Come to dinner, penis guy!"

June 18
Leighton mentioned something about Martin Luther King Jr and so Roy asked if he knew who that was.  Leighton replies, "The first black dude."  Gotta love the tidbits kids pick and choose to remember from things they learn in school!  Anyway, Roy reminded him exactly who Martin Luther King Jr was and they talked about it for a while, and Leighton says, "I am so glad I was born in 2007!"

No specific date
Riley and Leighton have been enjoying playing Simon Says.  Riley pronounces it Simon Says rhymes with praise.  Cute!

Thursday, June 20
Leighton told me, "When I grow up, I want to be an artist so that I can have MY pictures and art in a museum."

Lots of times I will look at Leighton and just tell him he's cute, so the other day I smiled at him in the kitchen and this was the conversation that followed:

L: What?
Me: Nothing!
L: I'm just cute??

Thursday, June 20
Leighton told me he wanted to look for soy fish when he was at a beach.  I asked him what in the world a soy fish was and he said, "Remember the ones that we got at HEB?"  He meant the little plastic  fish filled with a single serving of soy sauce.  I laughed so hard and told him that there really aren't fish called soy fish and those are just generic plastic fish.

June 25
When I was getting Riley's bedtime diaper on her, she said, "Oh MAN.  It's cookie and not Elmo."  The way she said 'oh MAN' was hilarious.
