Wet brunch
Our friends Ben, Jenn, Riley & Maddie came over several Sundays ago for brunch and swimming. We had them over for brunch a several months ago, so I wanted to make sure to make something different - and something poolside friendly. I decided to try out a few recipes that I had meaning to try for a while - luckily none of them were a flop or everyone would have starved!
45 Minute Cinnamon Rolls
These were so easy. And so tasty. I am drooling a little thinking about them! I made them up the night before and covered them in the fridge overnight. They baked up beautifully.
Peppery Bacon and Cheddar Scones
These were good. They packed a lot of flavor!
Bagel Bombs
I was beyond impressed with these. They were easy. AND they actually had bagel flavor! I made some with just plain cream cheese inside for the kids, too.
We swam and ate and swam some more.
Then we noticed some darker clouds and little rumbles of thunder. It dripped some rain drops here and there, but nothing seeming very serious. Um, yeah, it was. It started POURING. We all dashed inside and grabbed the food and towels and clothing and cameras.
The kids had a great time playing inside while the parents got to sit and relax. That never happens! It was lovely.
After a while, we decided we better make some lunch, so Roy went out into the rain to BBQ some burgers and hot dogs. We had planned ahead with some coleslaw and had lots of fruit ready from the brunch portion of our day outside.
And we had a cake I decorated in class the day before for dessert!
Then the kids played some more and we chatted and relaxed some more. Did I mention how lovely that was?!?!
