Monday
Our friend Angie owns a Gymboree Play and Music and has offered for me to bring the kids, but to get there we need to drive on the highway, and I have yet to take the plunge to get myself on those yet. She suggested we come down for a class and open gym and Roy offered to drive us and work in a coffee shop while we played. The kids loved the class and the open gym time. It was great to have a new and different activity, and it turned out to be a rainy day, so it was perfect to have something to do indoors.
After we played, we went out for lunch with Daddy. And then Riley fell asleep in the car on the way home for her first nap in several days. It worked out well because we had plans in the afternoon and evening and we needed her rested!
In the afternoon, Lindsey and the kids (and her mom, too!) came over to play. We had intended it to be a swim play date, but it was still raining so we stayed inside instead. I just realized I never pulled out the camera though!
For dinner, we were invited to surprise Kyla and Andy and the kids at his mom's house. They were definitely surprised and Laila was so excited to see Leighton! We were trying to see them as often as we could before their big move.
Tuesday
We did our usual HEB and Bellaire Library story times. We were pleasantly surprised to see Douniazed and the kids at the HEB one!
It was a hot and sunny afternoon, so we spent some time splashing around with Lindsey and the kids in their yard.
Wednesday
I took the kids to one of Riley's Wednesday morning play groups. It was another rainy day, so we didn't get to splash or spend time on the trampoline as hoped, but the kids had so much fun inside that they didn't care!
I spent the afternoon baking some cakes for our friend Anna's baby shower. I will do another post with some cake recipes and decorating photos soon ...
We went to John & Anna's for dinner. It was a really nice time, but sad to know it was one of our last chances to see them before they move. We packed up a bunch of their plants to bring home so it will be a nice reminder of them every time we see them ... as long as I keep them alive, that is!
Thursday
We had an almost all girls swimming party in the morning. Erin and her girls, Chelsea and her girls, and Sara and her girls all came over to swim. Leighton was the only boy in sight! We had some mimosas (the mommies, not the kids!) and snacks and enjoyed the warm morning.
After lunch, the kids spent a loooong time in front of the TV. They were tired after a morning of swimming and I needed to decorate my three cakes for Anna's shower. So, TV for them and a quiet kitchen for me!
Then it was off to an event at Leighton's new school for all the incoming Kindergarten kids. They played some games and then we had some hot dogs outside and played some more.
Anna's shower was really nice. Her friend hosted it and a small group of us were able to sit and eat and chat and eat and play some shower games and eat some more!
Friday
We were supposed to have a play date in the morning with Douniazed and the kids, but Riley has been going through a phase of power struggles and it ended up that staying home was on our agenda. In the end, it was nice to stay home and relax and swim without any scheduled activities.

Playdates with mimosas? Yes, please! This girl knows how to throw a party.
ReplyDeleteThanks for bringing the OJ!
DeleteBusy busy busy with tons of friends and fun. That's how summer should be.
ReplyDeleteWe LOVED Gymboree! We started going when H was only 6 weeks old and I was there at least three days a week for open gym and class. :)
ReplyDeleteI have lots of friends who have done it over the years, but we've only gone to birthday parties there!
